Hello there.

Welcome to Laurel and Iron - a lifestyle blog documenting my life and adventures in New England and beyond.

To get on here and talk about something as frivolous as beauty products and makeup, feels really odd right now. The world has seemingly flipped upside down. And to be honest, in this crisis, blogging has felt like a chore.

I felt like everything I did needed to be meaningful, inspirational, and focused on surviving. But I began to notice that the media I was consuming was the frivolous, fluffy, fun stuff because that’s what I need right now.

And to be honest, I’m not really leaving the house that much these days. Still, getting ready and putting makeup on makes me feel more normal. And…I also did a little pity party online shopping at Ulta. Whoops.

With that being said, I decided to keep on with this series despite the situation going on outside my door. If this is not what you need right now, that’s okay. Click away. Do what is right for you. With that out of the way, let’s get into the makeup.

Base

Of course, my favorite primer - the First Aid Beauty Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer ($29), had to be in the mix. It gives me joy. And I need extra joy right now.

I have two new base products to try out this month - The PUR 4 in 1 Love Your Selfie foundation in LN2 ($36) and the ELF Hydrating Camo Concealer in Fair Rose ($6). I’m excited to put these to the test and report back.

Cheek

Cheek products are far and above my favorite and most of these are new to me (from the aforementioned self-pity induced shopping).

I grabbed these two Flower Beauty products: Flower Pots in Wild Rose ($10) and Blush Bomb in Bitten ($10). They are so lovely and I’m so happy to have these in my collection.

Next, I picked this Milani Silky Matte Bronzing Powder in Sun Kissed ($10). This is so pretty. All of my other bronzers are pretty expensive. I think that is partly due to the fact that I am so fair and I prefer cool-toned bronzers and that has been hard to find in the drug store. But I finally found something that ticks all the boxes for me.

This Clinique Chubby Stick in 01 Hefty Highlight ($25) is perfect light pink, creamy shade that’s perfect for the warmer weather.

Eyes

I’m starting the eyes with this Nabla Secret Palette ($39). It’s new to me and embodies all things warmer weather. I can’t wait to play with it and see what I can create. When I open the palette, I feel so inspired. I will keep you updated!

Would it even be a shop my stash if I didn’t include my Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Mildew and Bourbon ($22, each)? No, it would not be. These are my ride or die.

Lips

I’m really into this lipliner and lipgloss combo thing right now. I pulled out my Thrive Causemetics liner in Kackie ($20), Colourpop Lippie Liner in Dopey ($6), and the Makeup Forever Waterproof Lipliner in 1C ($20).

To pair with them, I grabbed the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb in $weet Mouth ($19) and the ELF Lip Lacquer in Bubbles ($3).

Has the current climate changed your beauty routine? Tell me all about it in the comments below.

From all of us here at the Laurel and Iron household, we hope this post finds you well.
