Hello there.

Welcome to Laurel and Iron - a lifestyle blog documenting my life and adventures in New England and beyond.

My Favorite Boring Blushes

My Favorite Boring Blushes

Any blush can be flashy. Pink blushes, coral blushes, or plum. Sometimes they’re glittery, satin, or maybe even duochrome. Nude blushes however...boring old nude blushes. Those are the unsung heroes of my overflowing cheek product collection.

I cherish them. Collect them. Admire their beauty wistfully while applying more classically beautiful blushes. Boring, nudey blushes are my workhorses. They’re boring  but beautiful. And I’m here to tell you that you need at least one. Or more.

Here are my top 4. In no particular order because I don’t play favorites.

1 .Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Brilliant Nude $38 (here*)

This one leans the most coral of the bunch and has a subtle shimmer. You simply can’t beat the Hourglass blush formula. It’s my absolute favorite . It’s just a dream to apply and wears even better.

2. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Paaarty $29 (here*)

While the Hourglass blush is my favorite formula, Tarte is the hardest working blush on the block. With my oily skin, it takes a lot for my makeup to stay through my long work days. Tarte blushes can. This cool-toned nude really makes my skirt fly up. Which is why, when I hit pan on my mini, I ordered this full-sized pan pronto.

3. Too Faced Love Flushed Blush in Baby Love $24 (here*)

Another long wearing blush with a great formula. What can I say? I’m a sucker for the Polly Pocket packaging and the cutesy theme. A little goes a long way with this one. Tread lightly and tap the excess off your brush before applying.

4. Tarte Amazonian Glay 12 Hour Blush in Exposed $29 (here*)

I know what you’re going to say. These last three all look the same. Well, they aren’t. Applied to the cheeks they all look different and therefore I am justified in owning them. Right? Right. Moving on. This one is stunning. It’s the reason I fell deep into the rabbit hole of nudes. Nude blushes that is…

What’s your favorite type of blush? Tell me. I gotta catch ‘em all!
