Hello there.

Welcome to Laurel and Iron - a lifestyle blog documenting my life and adventures in New England and beyond.

My Favorite Boring Lipsticks

My Favorite Boring Lipsticks

I had so fun much searching through my stash to write my ode to boring blushes post (if you haven’t seen it, go head and click this bad boy right here) that I knew I needed to do it again. Blush is my absolute favorite beauty product of all time. I could own them all and it would never be enough. But, I only have two cheeks so I try to reign it in.

Another place in my collection where I have tendency to hoard is lipsticks. Especially of brownish-pinkish-mauve-y variety. In narrowing it down, I discovered something rather interesting…turns out my top 5 are all from the same brand. Bite beauty.

There formula, packaging, and quality are hard to beat. Bite beauty, hands down, makes my favorite lip products. I own an alarming number of Bite beauty lipsticks but what can I say, they do it better than anyone else in the game.

Let’s get into the nitty gritty. My top five boring lipsticks.

Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Pepper ($26*): Described as a dusty rose, Pepper is by far my most worn lipstick of all time. Bite Beauty’s classic lipstick bullet formula is dreamy. Creamy and comfortable. I love the heck out this one. The shade is that perfect “my lips but better” color but with an opacity that many nude-y pinks lacks. I love it so much that I couldn’t keep it to myself and bought one for both my mom and my sister. Worn with a smokey eye for a perfect date night look or sheered out and paired with a touch of mascara for that no makeup, make up feel. If you were only going to own one Bite lipstick, I think this is it.

Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Meringue ($26*): Described as a peachy nude, Meringue is pretty new to my collection. I received in my FabFitFun Winter 2018 box. This is a shade I had overlooked many, many times while browsing at Sephora. Now, I can’t believe it I ever passed it up. That’s what I love about FabFitFun. I’m always discovering new things. I thought this shade with give me early 2000’s Kim K lips but it actually applies a bit deeper than it appears in the tube. If Pepper is too dark for your everyday life, Meringue might just be your jam. Slightly lighter but with that same natural babe vibe. Nothing overdone here.

Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Sake ($26 for full size*): Described a dusty mauve, this mini was part of the 2018 Four Little Bites Holiday Set. Pepper’s deeper, darker sister - Sake is perfect for those day when you’re feeling your inner vampire girl. This is one I like for date night or paired with a wing liner for a little twist on a classic vintage look.

Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick in Chicory ($24*): Described as a muted rosey-brown, Chicory is part of the Liquidified Lipstick collection. This long-lasting formula isn’t your traditional liquid lipstick. Trade up your drying, crusty transfer-proof liquid lipsticks for something much more comfortable. Flexible, creamy, and a little shiny, this one is will make all your Rachel Green lipstick dreams come true. An updated 90’s brown that’s perfect for work.

Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick in Whip ($24*): Described as blushed beige, Whip is a glossy pinky-brown that looks just as good with a full-face as it does with a bare face. I love that kind of flexibility in a lip shade. Slap it on and forget it. A perfect everyday type of pink with all the right stuff - a touch of gloss, total opacity, and a formula that won’t drive you crazy. Love it!
