2019: My Year in Books
One of my earliest posts on Laurel and Iron was 2018: My Year in Books. It combined my love of reading and my love of math. I couldn’t head into the New Year with out revisiting my reading habits and setting some new goals. My reading goal for 2019 was 30 books and I am pleased to report that I did reach my goals!
My Reading Year in Review:
Total Books Read: 31
Total Pages Read: 11,218
Shortest Book: 168 pages
Longest Book: 546 pages
Average Book Length: 365 pages
Check out my Salt to the Sea review here.
While I did hit my goal of reading 30 books, I failed hard on not going an entire month without finishing a single book. February, why are you so short and horrible for reading?
Most Books Read in One Month: 7 (Oct, Dec)
Fewest Books Read in One Month: 0 (Feb, April)
Mean Number of Books Read in One Month: 2.5
Compared to last year, my reading tastes were wildly different! I’m not surprised by the categories, but I am pretty surprised by the spread!
Historical Fiction: 13 Books
Contemporary Fiction: 9 Books
Non-Fiction: 6 Books
Fantasy/Sci-Fi: 3 Books
I think I’m little burnt out on historical fiction, especially WWII, but you never know what the new year will bring! I will probably eat those words in 2020.
I read some really great books this year. I also read a few that nearly killed me to finish. My average Good Reads rating for the year was 3.8. Not bad but I think we can do better in 2020!
My Favorite Read: The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah * (my review)
My Least Favorite Read: The Tattoo Artist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris *
Honorable Mentions:
City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert * (my review)
Mrs. Everything by Jennifer Weiner* (my review)
Evvie Dreak Starts Over by Linda Holmes *
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman * (my review)
Books I wanted to throw across the room:
My 2020 Good Reads Goal is to complete 30 books and for the love of J.K Rowling, to not go a month without finishing a book.
