squat proof leggings part 2: 90 Degree by Reflex Power Flex Capri

If you don’t know the whole story, I highly recommend you start back here at part 1. You’re in for a good laugh and an explanation of what this squat proof legging journey is all about.

Today, I’m back to review the first of 7 pairs of leggings that I set out to try. This is scary for me. I’m about to share a picture of my backside with the internet. It’s a part of my body that own but don’t necessarily feel the most comfortable with. However, I am where I am right now and I know I’m not the only member of the big booty club. So, I’m here for all the curvy ladies - getting the real tea on the internet’s best squat proof leggings.

Let’s get into the review. If you already read part 1, you know I had a list of 5 criteria that each pair of leggings needed to meet.

The first pair of leggings are the 90 Degree by Reflex Power Flex Capri*. These were touted on Reddit as being the best affordable squat proof leggings. Well internet people, you are a bunch of big, fat liars. Are we really that surprised? No, not at all but I am still bummed.

The details: These high-waisted tights run true to size. Using the sizing chart, I selected a size large and felt that they fit really well. I liked the length, which was closer to a 7/8 cut than a true capri on my short legs but I’m ok with that. The fabric felt nice and the stitching looked good.

The criteria:

100% Squat Proof: Nope. Not even close. To give the leggings the benefit of the doubt, I ended up ordering a second pair in an extra-large because I have a big bum and maybe they weren’t designed with the curvy girl in mind. Still a hard pass. Going up size didn’t give me any more opacity and they were too big in the waist.

Easy to find or order: Definitely! I got mine on Amazon. They were a prime item which makes it super easy but they’re also available at TJ Max and Marshall’s.

Size Inclusive: Sort of. The largest size is an XL which, per the sizing chart, should fit up to a size 18. The sizing chart includes plus sizes up to a 5X but the plus size leggings weren’t available on Amazon. So, that’s a bummer.

Look Cute: I absolutely loved the bright pink hue and the way they fit (until I bent over). If these were squat proof, I’d probably order them in every color.

Comfortable: Because they were so completely see-through, I couldn’t wear them to work out at all. So, I can’t speak to how they hold up through a gym session.

The conclusion: These guys are a straight up no for me and will be returned. If I saw them in TJ Max in my size in another color, I would definitely try them on to see if the colorway contributed to the lack of opacity but I won’t be going out of my way to seek them out. If you’ve got a smaller bum, these might work for you.

Have you tried the 90 Degree leggings? If so, do they work for you? What are your favorite leggings?
