Hello there.

Welcome to Laurel and Iron - a lifestyle blog documenting my life and adventures in New England and beyond.

Final 90 Days of 2020

Final 90 Days of 2020

Dear 2020,

You have been pretty terrible. Viruses, hurricanes, violence, and the American people watching actual clowns try to run our country while we scream out for change.

I am over you. I could not be happier to find that as of today there are only 90 more days of you, 2020. And I won’t take the rest of this year laying down. Instead, I am going to use these 90 days to propel me into 2021 with a renewed spirit.

I am chasing goals that felt impossible when the world fell apart in March.

See you on the other side, 2020.

Love, Lauren

Okay, but seriously. 2020 was the worst - worse than 2017. And we never believed that it could get worse than 2017.

But, I won’t take this shiitake sitting down anymore. Instead of letting these last 90 days pass me by as I wait with baited breath for 2021 to finally arrive, I am going use these days to fuel my next year. Because I have massively fallen off the wagon this year.

I’m giving myself grace because I’m not into self-flagellation anymore but I can give myself grace while also making changes that are more inline with goals and visions.

So here it is…the 2020 Final Countdown! I have 9 goals for myself for the next 90 days and I’m feeling ready to get into it. If you want to make the most of these next 90 days, join me by setting your goals and let’s kick 2002 to the curb together!

My top 3 goals:

  1. Refine my morning routine and accomplish it 60 days out of 90.

  2. Renovate the Master Bedroom

  3. Meaningful movement 4 of 7 days per week

These are my top priorities for the next 90 days. My morning routine has been watching YouTube in bed until I have barely enough time to get to work. It’s not good. I don’t feel good. I don’t feel accomplished at the end of the day. I want to make better use of my mornings by establishing a routine that works for me and sets me up for success. It will likely change and morph throughout the next 90 days as I find something that truly works for me and my needs.

Renovating my bedroom has been on my to-do list since I moved in in 2015. There always seems to be something else that needs repairing or replacing. Oh, the joys of homeownership. But I finally feel like I am in a good place to make my bedroom a true sanctuary. I have already been measured for and ordered my new flooring so there is no turning back now!

Movement has been hard for me lately. I just feel so drained. I know that this is likely a result of me wasting my mornings in bed more often than not. I would like to get back into the routine of regularly moving my body with love. I have no weight loss, no gainz, no other goals in mind - just move in whatever way feels good that day.

I have 6 additional goals to chip away at in the next 3 months.

  1. Read at least 3 books

  2. Post to the blog 12 times

  3. Set a daily self-care/self-improvement goal

  4. Take one step towards the master bathroom remodel

  5. Get the fireplace repaired.

  6. Take a fall hike

I am a goal-getter and setting goals and writing them down gives me the accountability and motivation I need to get stuff done. I love checking boxes and striking items off the to-do list. There is nothing more satisfying than a completed list. I hope challenging and pushing myself for the next 90 days will help me to get into a mental headspace that is healthier and happier so that when 2021 comes I can wipe the slate clean and start anew. I can’t wait to get started! What goals do you have for the rest of 2020? Tell me all about it in the comments below!
