Squat Proof Leggings Part 6: Athleta Powervita Salutation Stash Pocket Capri Review
When I first sat down to vision board Laurel and Iron, I knew that wanted to be a resource for positive, inclusive wellness and fitness because I knew that social media was flooded with beautiful, fit, muscular girls just killing it. What I didn’t see, was the girls who looked more like me who are also out there killing it.
I truly believe that you cannot tell how healthy someone is simply by their body habitus. I was in a place where I felt as if I was most the fit that I have been in my adult life even though I wasn’t at my lowest weight. I believed that if I could talk about these things in a lighthearted way, through the lens of leggings that don’t show your bum to the whole gym, that I could help other girls feel more confident and more secure.
I have approached this series with a side of super sass. Keeping things silly to mask how demoralized I had felt in the past when fitness brands simply did not make items that fit my body. My light, humorous voice is something that is a part of me and this blog but I know that I turned it up for this series.
Let’s just get something straight. It fucking (yeah, I swore) sucks to feel like you don’t have the right to take up space in a fitness environment, whether it be a gym or a spin studio or a popular running path, because you don’t look a certain way.
I set out on this project to find the best leggings because I just didn’t want to deal with my butt hanging out there for all the world to see. I didn’t realize how much it would bring to the surface. It didn’t realize that it would hit all of my insecurities over the head with a giant mallet like some broke down version of Whack-a-Mole.
Today, I’m going to be talking about the Athleta Powervita Salutation Capri and trying to answer the question, is it squat proof. But the reason I gave that long winded introduction is because there is something about these leggings, the Athleta mission, the women who work at the Old Port Athleta store, that make me feel powerful and strong and worthy in a way that other leggings haven’t.
There was something about this Squat Proof test and photo session that hit me over the head with what incredible and amazing things my body is capable of. Maybe I changed. Maybe it was just the feeling I was carrying that day or the vibrations I was running on. Or maybe, just maybe, these leggings really are that good. Let’s get into the review!
Easy to find and order? Yes! Athleta is available online and in-store. I’m lucky to live near a store with some pretty bad-ass ladies to help you find the perfect pair of leggings.
Cute and Stylish? Yes! These leggings are like buttah! So stinking soft and comfortable. They’re sleek and flattering.
Size Inclusive?: YES! Athleta recently added more sizes to their online inventory. They now carry XXS-3X which I think is amazing! They also carry bras in cup sizes A-DD and special bras designed for women who are post-mastectomy. They are really working to make sure all women are represented!
Are they comfy? Yes! These particular leggings provide only gentle compression. And that’s totally fine with me. They’re still super flattering. They’re so soft. The waist band stays in place and the bottom hems don’t dig into my calves.
But are they Squat Proof? Yes, yes, yes!
I am loving these leggings and can’t wait to explore more of the Athleta range. If you have an Athleta store near you, make sure you check out their free fitness class offerings. During these events, you’ll be entered in giveaways and be eligible for 20% of full-priced item if you shop. Plus, the store is closed down to the public, so you can get special attention from the Athleta girls who will help you find your perfect leggings.
Overall, I would say this has been the best experience I’ve had so far in this journey. From shopping to working out in the leggings, there has been nothing but good vibes. It is so much more than what I expected to get out of writing this post. And I’m so grateful!
