Squat Proof Leggings Part 5: Aerie Play Real Me High Waisted 7/8 Leggings Review

I just have to say...Thank you all for your sweet support of the Squat-Proof Legging series. It’s incredibly scary to put your bum out there on the internet for all to see but I know this is a real issue! Sure, maybe it’s a #firstworldproblem but it’s a problem none-the-less!

Women come in all shapes and sizes. They are all beautiful, valid, and deserving of some nice-ass leggings. I deeply appreciate your feedback, comments, and suggestions. It has been incredibly fun to write these posts. The best part, of course, are the public photo shoots of my backside with Thomas. We sure do love to make fools of ourselves but I’m committed to thoroughly testing each pair of leggings!

Without further ado, here are our next pair! The Aerie Play Real Me High Waisted Seemless ⅞ legging!

I was recommended these particular leggings by another Maine Blogger, Courtney. Ok, not like personally recommended...she’s kind of the queen of Maine style blogging and has no idea I exist but she has posted about these leggings on her Instagram stories like a hundred times.

So, I caved and bought two pairs when they were on sale for under 20 bucks each. Which is a hell of a deal if you ask me!. But do they meet the criteria? Let’s see…

Are they squat proof? Yes! I was absolutely shocked because these things feel like they’re made of silk. I thought for sure they would fail the test but amazingly, they pass!

  1. Easy to Find and Order? Sort of. I don’t live anywhere close to an Aerie store. So, I have to order them online. I did order according to the size chart and was happy with the fit. While you don’t need a VIP membership, unlike Fabletics, Aerie seems to fall into the category of “frequent sales as a marketing technique.” A few weeks ago these leggings were marked down from $39.95 to $12. Now, they’re listed at $27. I’ve yet to actually see them priced at $39. So, it seems like a farce to me. In fact, I haven’t seen them listed for more than $27 so I have a feeling that’s their actual base price. I still think that that’s a good deal for the leggings because they’re great quality but I hate those kinds of sales tactics.

  2. Cute and stylish?: Yes! I love their smooth, seemless look. I like the way they’re stitched in the back (they call it their “V waistband”).

  3. Size inclusive?: You bet. Aerie is well known for not only providing a range of sizes but for actually having many different body types include in their marketing images. Their sizes range from XXS-XXL (00-20). Pretty freaking awesome!

  4. Are they comfy?: These are not super hold leggings like the Zella’s or Fabletics. I’d say the compression level is fairly light so don’t expect major hold here. Are they comfy? Only if you think wearing light-weight, silky, smooth, seemless, dreamy leggings is comfortable. Yes, they are the most comfortable pair yet!
